Legislative Leaders Endorse Connie Leyva for State Senate

April 21, 2014 – Connie Leyva is building on the significant support she is receiving in the community for her Senate District 20 race with strong endorsements from California’s legislative leaders, announced the Leyva campaign.

Announcing their endorsement of Connie Leyva this week are: State Senators Alex Padilla and Ben Hueso, and Assemblymembers Raul Bocanegra, Ian Calderon, Ed Chau, Susan Eggman, Cristina Garcia, Jimmy Gomez, Lorena Gonzalez, Isadore Hall, Roger Hernandez, Chris Holden, Al Muratsuchi, Sharon-Quirk-Silva, Anthony Rendon, Nancy Skinner, and Das Williams.
Connie Leyva has more than a decade of experience leading organizations to improve working conditions and wages for California’s working families by advocating for fair contracts that keep pace with the innovations businesses need to succeed.  She is running for State Senate to get California working again with quality schools, affordable colleges and universities, and investing in our infrastructure to help grow our economy.
Leyva currently serves as President of the California State Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO and as President of the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1428 - the local union she joined as a grocery worker while in high school.  Connie earned a Bachelors Degree from the University of Redlands.  She lives in Chino with her husband Albert and daughters Allie and Jessie.
The California Labor Federation, AFSCME California, State Controller John Chiang, Senate President pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, Senators Kevin de Leon, Norma Torres, and Ricardo Lara are also supporting Connie Leyva for State Senate.
