Connie Leyva Wins Official California Democratic Party Endorsement

April 28, 2014 – Connie Leyva won the overwhelming support at this weekend’s vote for the California Democratic Party’s (CDP) official endorsement.  More than 85% (67 out of 78) of those casting votes chose Connie Leyva for Senate District 20.

The CDP endorsement gives Connie a significant advantage when ballots start landing in mailboxes next week.  Over half of the district’s expected voter turnout for the June 3rd primary election will be Democrats.

Connie Leyva has more than a decade of experience leading organizations to improve working conditions and wages for California’s working families by advocating for fair contracts that keep pace with the innovations businesses need to succeed.  She is running for State Senate to get California working again with quality schools, affordable colleges and universities, and investing in our infrastructure to help grow our economy.

Leyva currently serves as President of the California State Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO and as President of the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1428 - the local union she joined as a grocery worker while in high school.  Connie earned a Bachelors Degree from the University of Redlands.  She lives in Chino with her husband Albert and daughters Allie and Jessie.

The CDP endorsement for Connie comes on the heels of endorsements from a growing list of state legislative leaders, the California Labor Federation, AFSCME California, State Controller John Chiang, and State Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones.
